The premium rebar line of Batala Steel Industries, a Lahore steelmaker whose roots go back to 1947. Grade 60, 72 and 80 deformed bars and structural girders, made from imported melting scrap in two mills on the Lahore–Sheikhupura Road.
About
Batala, in Indian Punjab, was known before 1947 as the 'Iron Bird of Asia' for its cast-iron and machinery works. When the Radcliffe Line placed it in India, the founders of the company migrated to Pakistan, settled in Faisalabad's Batala Colony and carried their steel-making trade with them.
Today Batala Steel Industries is run from Lahore, and Batala Gold is its newer premium rebar and sales line, launched to serve larger infrastructure and high-rise work with higher-strength grades.
Raw material is imported heavy melting steel (HMS) scrap from the UK and the Netherlands, melted in electric induction furnaces and rolled directly into bar, which the company says removes intermediate re-heating steps.
Positions Batala Gold as the company's next chapter: a premium rebar line built on its existing mills, aimed at the strength demands of modern infrastructure while keeping prices competitive.

What they make
The workhorse deformed bar for RCC slabs, beams and columns — from residential construction up to bridges and high-rise frames. Marked with a '60' stamp.
A stronger bar than Grade 60 for structures that carry heavier loads — industrial buildings, bridges and large frames — with added toughness against cracking and fatigue.

Batala Gold's strongest bar. Higher strength lets engineers reduce the quantity of steel in heavily loaded members while keeping ductility for on-site bending. Marked '80'.

Batala Steel describes itself as a pioneer girder maker. H-beams (wide flange) carry heavy vertical loads in large buildings and bridges; T-beams support floors and roofs over longer spans.
Strength figures as published by the manufacturer.

Tensile and bend testing of finished bar.
Process
Imported scrap
HMS scrap is collected, sorted and cleaned.
Melting
Scrap is melted in a large ladle at around 1,800 °F.
Molten steel
Poured into the tundish, which feeds the caster.

Billets pass through roughing mills and are shaped into ribbed bar.
Cutting & bending
A flying shear cuts standard and custom lengths.
Quality control
Each finished bar is tested against ASTM requirements.

Responsibility

Batala Gold has commissioned a solar energy project to cut its reliance on grid electricity, with the stated goal of running production entirely on renewable power.
It also reports emission-reducing equipment on its plants, including catalytic converters and scrubbers, and more efficient cooling.

The company supports the Abu Hurairah Trust Hospital and the Ayesha Bibi Trust's girls-only primary school, which it says teaches more than 800 students.
It also runs a free dispensary and a maternity clinic for families living around its plants.
